1/20/2023 0 Comments Office 2019 64 bit vs 32 bitWe were probably late to the 64bit party but have been pushing Office 64bit since version 11929.20254 or since July 2019.Įdit : Our accounts machines continue to run the 32bit version - and will until Sage decide to pull their finger out and update their products to work with the 64bit version. So we bit the bullet(tested first) and decided if MS is pushing 64bit by default now is the time to start using the 64bit version. The main advantage of using the 64-bit version is that you can use as much RAM as you. I don't think it will limit any choices on integration support for newer products. Then a while back i was doing some testing and grabbed a fresh copy from microsoft and realised MS had at some point switched the default installer from 32Bit to 64bit on their website so all our home users we're getting the 64bit version anyway without realising it and no one had been complaining about issues. Anyone whose system allows it should use the 64-bit version of Office. Most major Office integrations have 64-bit versions of their plugins released at this point, so the concerns are usually over in-house solutions or out-of-support third-party ones. For the longest time we pushed out the 32bit version (local network install downloaded from Microsoft) because we would get weird random issues that just didn't happen with 32bit or we would have an edge case where the accounting software (Sage50) was just not updated to work with 64bit Outlook / Excel for whatever reason.
